“With the comfort of the hotels and long distance trains of Central Europe as the aesthetic key, the setting works a bit like it does in Giallo films - shot in Munich though it takes place in Freiburg, or shot in Würzburg pretending to take place in Milan. Sometimes this strategy makes for a more convincing portrait.”
